The Alps are the greatest supported hiking and walking destinations in the world. The trails are well marked, well maintained, and connected by hundreds of villages, hamlets, inns, and mountain huts where hikers can find clean, comfortable, and beautifully situated accommodations. You can hike for weeks even without the need to carry a tent, sleeping bag, stove, or food.
It doesn’t matter where you are in this stunning region of Europe, the Alps are filled with wildflowers, sheep, cows and hikers.
Getting up to the mountains the first thing you notice is the far off tinkling of cow bells, and if you take a close look on those gargantuan mountains you will see plenty of bovines. The cows, and many sheep, are pastured all summer in high valleys, steep mountainsides, places you might be surprised to see them, but they are there.
The cows munch and get fat on this fresh grass and herb diet. The farmers have hired seasonal workers to milk the cows and some still make cheese all summer long. After about 100 days of feasting on this rich green grass, the farmers must fetch their herds and bring them back home for the long winter where the cows will once again rely on the hay the farmer has managed to harvest while they were on walkabout.

Take a walk with us through the Austrian Alps and get a very close look to the cows and sheep we meet during our day trip.

Here are some useful tips for mountain walks:
Keep a safe distance to the herd
Do not stroke, feed or come too close to calves
Do not hike through the middle of a herd
Avoid noise and hectic movements
Always close the pasture gates

How to use the App:
Start the app and slip your iPhone into the VR headset (ie. Cardboard) and put it on your head. The App then uses the myriad of sensors already available on the iPhone to replicate your head movements, allowing you to look around the virtual environment.

Of course, being made from Cardboard, the Google Cardboard isn’t the most comfortable headset to wear, especially over long periods of time. It’s a good starting point for mobile VR users, but if you find yourself still wanting to use VR after the initial novelty has worn off, it may be worth investing in a slightly more expensive, but more comfortable option, like the ones we’ve listed below.
